110 thousand Turks went to Dubai for tourism
According to the news of Mehtap Halici from the Dunya newspaper, the number of Turkish tourists going to Dubai has increased, and the number of visitors from Dubai to Turkey has increased year by year, referring to the Regional Director of International Operations Responsible for the Asia Pacific Region of the Dubai Department of Economics and Tourism (DET), Shahab Shayan, “Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, who has been sitting on the throne for 7 years, sees tourists while walking on the beach. With the inspiration he suddenly got from there, he thinks this situation can be a point of attraction for Dubai. Dubai, known for its fishing, is thus making its way and has come a long way to today.
At the moment, Dubai has become one of the world tourism centers,” he said. Pointing out that Dubai is one of the world’s favorite tourism destinations, Shayan said that the region receives an influx of more than 2 million visitors daily, and while Turkey hosted 90 thousand visitors before the pandemic, this figure reached 110 thousand people as of September and they predict that it will increase every year.
DUBAI’S ECONOMY GREW BY 3.2 PERCENT
Stating that the Dubai economy grew by 3.2 percent in the first half of 2023 and reached a total value of 223.8 billion UAE Dinars, Shahab Shayan stressed that this value was realized in accordance with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda. September January 2023 saw a record 12.40 million visitors to Dubai, an annual increase of 22 percent and exceeding pre-pandemic visitation levels by 3 percent,“ Shayan said.
FAVORITE OF TURKISH INVESTORS
Noting that the Dubai hotel and food services sector had a growth rate of 9.2 percent with an added value of approximately AED 7.9 billion in the first half of 2023, Shayan said, “The sector contributed 3.5 percent to the economy and 9.5 percent to total growth. According to the data of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, the emirate welcomed 8.55 million international visitors with a 20 percent growth compared to the same period last year,”he said.
Stating that the Turks are in an important place for them, Shayan said, “We see that in addition to tourists, Turkish investors are also coming to Dubai. Companies are opening restaurants, businesses in Dubai. We have mutual visits with Turkey. And this is not a figure that should be underestimated at all. From the United Arab Emirates to Turkey, people come to Bodrum, Antalya and Izmir intensively,”he said.
RIXOS IS MAKING INVESTMENT PREPARATIONS
Shahab Shayan underlined that their focus is on tourism and said, “When we looked at tourism before and after the pandemic, we had 710 hotels. by the year 2023, 100 more hotels have been added. This corresponds to an additional 30 thousand rooms. It means that the tourism investor trusts and believes in Dubai and sees its potential. Currently, we have 809 hotels, large and small, which offer diversity,”he said. Shayan added that the Turks are currently preparing a new hotel investment in the United Arab Emirates, and Rixos is among them.
